Dr. Doug Hemler is originally a native of Wyoming. After obtaining an Associate’s Degree from Casper College in Casper, Wyoming he completed undergraduate, medical school, and surgical internship at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Hemler continues his military service as a Lieutenant Colonel, Flight Surgeon in the Air Force Reserve. He recently completed a deployment in the Middle East including duty in Iraq and Qatar.

Dr. Hemler is active in the Colorado Medical Society serving on the Physician’s Congress for Healthcare Reform and the Worker’s Compensation/ Auto Insurance advisory committee. He is the current Secretary/ Treasurer of the Clear Creek Valley Medical Society.

Dr. Hemler’s medical interests include nonsurgical management of the spine, interventional pain medicine, sports injuries, EMG’s and neuropathic pain conditions such as neuropathies, radiculopathies, and complex regional pain syndrome.

His personal interests include gardening and ‘plein aire’ landscape painting. (Most people agree that his is a better physician than he is an artist). Given the opportunity, he spends as much time as possible in the Tetons and Yellowstone. He is married and has two children, one in college and one in high school.

He maintains board certification in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (Physiatry), Electrodiagnostic Medicine (EMG’s and Nerve Testing), and Pain Medicine (Epidural Steroids, Injections, and Pain Management). As the founder of STAR his goals are to improve the health and independence of his patients through a full service ‘menu’ of options that is scientific, state of the art, and respectful of and individuals needs. A STAR patient may need rehabilitation, medications, injection, or help with the emotional issues of their condition. The goal is to provide the best available, specific solution for each patient.
